Testing Your Study

Why Test?

  • Verify questions appear in the right order

  • Confirm conditional logic works

  • Check screening rules terminate correctly

  • Estimate how long the study takes

  • Catch typos and errors

⚠️ Warning: Always test before publishing. Issues found after launch affect data quality.

Generate a Test Link

Get Invite Link Button

  1. Go to the Recruit tab

  2. Click Get invite link

  3. Copy the link

  4. Open in incognito/private browser

  5. Complete the study as a participant would

What to Test

Content:

  • All questions display correctly

  • No typos or errors

  • Instructions are clear

Flow:

  • Questions appear in right order

  • Conditional logic works (questions show/hide correctly)

  • Screening rules terminate when they should

Media:

  • Images display correctly

  • Recording works for video/audio questions

Completion:

  • Study ends properly

  • Total time is reasonable

Testing Different Paths

If you have conditional logic, test ALL paths:

Testing Screening

  1. Answer to qualify → Verify you continue

  2. Answer to disqualify → Verify you're screened out

Test Data

Test responses are:

  • Marked as "Test" in your data

  • Excluded from analysis

  • Can be deleted if desired


Publishing Your Study

Before Publishing Checklist

  • Completed interview guide

  • Set up screening questions

  • Created panels with demographics

  • Tested thoroughly

  • Fixed all issues found

  • Saved all changes

How to Publish

Save Changes Button

  1. Go to the Recruit tab

  2. Review panel settings

  3. Click Save Changes to save your configuration

  4. Click Publish Study to go live

  5. Confirm publication

What Happens When You Publish

  • Study moves from Draft to Active

  • Responses count as real data

  • Responses included in analysis

  • Editing becomes limited

⚠️ Warning: Once you start collecting responses, you cannot make major changes to questions without affecting data consistency.


Inviting Participants

After publishing, distribute your study:

Generate Links

  • General link - Can be used multiple times (for broad sharing)

  • Unique links - One per participant (for tracking)

After Publishing

Monitor Progress

  • Check response counts in Responses tab

  • Track completion rates

  • Monitor screen-out rates

If Issues Arise

  • Pause the study to stop new responses

  • Fix issues if possible

  • Resume or create note about limitations
