Overview
Deepfield supports multilingual surveys, allowing you to reach participants in their native language while maintaining a single study for analysis.
Supported Languages
Deepfield supports 28 languages:

Language Selection
Setting the Primary Language
When creating a study, it starts in your account's default language. To add more languages:
Complete your survey design in the primary language
Navigate to the Recruit tab
Click Translate Survey
Language Selection Dropdown
The translation dialog shows:
Available languages with checkboxes
Current translation status for each
Progress indicators for in-progress translations
Select all languages you need and click Start Translation.
Translation Workflow
Step 1: Enter Translation Status
Your study must be in Translation status to enable language editing:
Complete your survey in the primary language
Move from Draft to Translation status
The Translate Survey option becomes available
Step 2: Load Languages
Click Load All Languages to fetch existing translations. This shows:
Which languages have translations
Which are still pending
Any translation errors
Step 3: Edit Translations
To edit a specific language:
Use the language dropdown to switch languages
The entire form reloads in that language
Edit text directly in the form editor
Changes are tracked separately per language
Step 4: Save Translations
Click Save to persist translation changes. Each language saves independently.
Undo Translation Changes
If you make mistakes, click Undo to revert to the last saved version of that language.
AI Translation
Automatic Translation
Deepfield can automatically translate your survey:
Open the Translate Survey dialog
Select target languages
Click Translate
AI generates translations
Translation Polling
Translation happens asynchronously. The system:
Queues your translation request
Shows progress per language
Notifies when complete
Allows you to continue working
Reviewing AI Translations
Always review AI translations:
Check industry-specific terminology
Verify cultural appropriateness
Test with native speakers if possible
โ ๏ธ Warning: AI translations are a starting point. For critical research, have native speakers review and refine the translations.
Language Form Cache
The editor caches language forms to improve performance:
Behavior | Description |
Lazy loading | Languages load only when selected |
Local cache | Edits persist locally until saved |
Sync on save | Changes upload on explicit save |
This allows switching between languages without losing work.

In the Editor
Use the language dropdown in the toolbar to switch between languages. The form reloads with that language's content.
For Participants
When your study is live, participants see:
Language Selection Screen: Choose their preferred language
Full Survey: Entire survey in their selected language
Consistent Experience: All questions, options, and instructions translated
Participant Language Selection
The consumer app presents a language picker:
Participant opens survey link
Available languages appear as options
Participant selects their language
Survey loads completely in that language
Automatic Detection
The system can suggest languages based on:
Browser language setting
Geographic location (via panel)
Previous session preference
